Station walk
A superb 16-kilometre walk. Partly on paved roads, partly on wide and narrow dirt paths. The walk starts at Empe station. Through the village, past farms, meadows and forest edges, you reach the wetlands of the Empese and Tondense Heide. Here you walk a section on a spectacular plank path. Via the village of Hall, you enter the forest. Passing country estates Leusveld and Groot Engelenburg, you reach the end point: Brummen station.

Description
Leaving Voorst-Empe station westwards, walk along the cycle path next to the N345 national road towards Zutphen. Where this makes a left turn, after house number 15, turn right onto Emperweg.
After a bend to the left, keep left, the Ganzenkolk. Take the footpath to the right of the road. At a three-way junction stay on Ganzenkolk, little right, the footpath ends. After a dairy farm the road bends to the right, at a t-junction turn left, the road is now called Plagweg.
Just down the road are two blue benches. Walk down Plagweg until you reach former Bethel church from 1902. Here turn right, onto the cinder road. At the end, turn left, the Weg over 't Hontsveld. At a fork left, Hommelstraat. After 200 metres is coffee and tea shop 'De Hommel'.
Continue along the road. At junction 73 is a t-junction. Turn briefly right, onto Hallsedijk, then after 25 metres left, onto Lage Steenweg, an unpaved path, which leads through Empese and Tonden heathland nature reserve. Walk along the road, at the end turn left onto Mestweg, also a dirt track
Further on, a fence of Natuurmonumenten, now you re-enter farmland. At the end turn right, the Langedijk, after 250 metres turn left, onto the Blaarweg. At the end, at the T-junction, turn left, this is the Oude Zutphenseweg. Take the right-hand bend to get to cycle junction 56. At the junction with Voorstondensestraat, go straight ahead onto Slatweg. Now briefly follow the signs cycling junction to number 48. You walk into the village of Hall. At the third house on the left, number 4, is a picnic garden, there is also a toilet there.
Continue towards junction 48, along the Dorpsstraat. You pass Hall's old church. Just behind it, turn left at a blue artwork onto the paved cycle path, the Hallsepad. At a crossing straight ahead, after a few bends you come to cycle junction 48. At the forest edge turn right and immediately left, now following the red leusveld walk. Walk between the beeches, ignoring some side paths. At a t-junction with a fence turn left. Further on you pass a wooden bench with a dragonfly.
In the distance on the left, the Leusveld looms. There you rejoin the Hallsepad, turn right. Pass the car park, cross Rhiendersestraat, stay on the Hallsepad. Now you are also briefly on the red Leusveld footpath again. A little further on you can take a stretch of footpath, left next to the cycle path. Slowly you come into civilisation, there are some bends, then you arrive at the junction with Knoevenoordstraat at cycle junction 40.
Turn left, Walk along the cycle path 200 metres to tavern De Vroolijke Frans in the hamlet of Broek. Perhaps you are already hungry? Continue via the 'back garden', past the bandstand, a wooden train, and a pony stall walk into the woods. Turn immediately right and after 25 metres left, a very narrow footpath, which widens slightly further on.
This path rejoins the Hallsepad, cross this and continue straight into the forest. The path bends left, cross a small bridge and immediately turn right, at the end left. Here you walk with forest on your left and a golf course on your right. Further on you see the Groot Engelenburg estate on your right. At a bench, the path makes a right-angled turn. At the end you can go right to Groot Engelenburg or left to Brummen railway station, which you can see in the distance.
